How to: SCJP / OCJP certification, best practice, chennai

Oracle Certified Professional, Java Programmer(OCP,JP) is the certification I’m gonna discuss in this post. This certification is offered by ORACLE prior to this Sun was offering it in the name SCJP, in a generic way I’m gonna refer this as OCJP.

Here I have given a list of FAQs that you can use.

1. What are the prerequisites or Should I have completed any other exam before this?
A: Not required. But it is good that you take mock exams available in various sites before facing the big challenge. You’ll face 60 questions within 150mins you have to answer them and score 61% to clear the exam (37 questions must be correct).


2. What is the best book for this exam?
A: I haven’t heard of a book for OCP,JP 1Z0-851 but there is book for SCJP 310-065 which is essentially the same exam but the name was changed once Oracle started to offer the exam. The book is authored by peoples who prepares the examination papers and patterns so they would be the best guide.


3. Is book enough for certification?
A: No Book is not enough it might give an outline of test and how to think but to master the exam book will not be enough we have to take a mock test, in the preface of the book they have mentioned some forum and website to look for.


4. Where can I find a mock test on this?
A: I’m giving here the two best sites; My favourite is javaranch.com, the rules round-up quiz will be very useful. There is also another site examcollection.com watch that space for the most updated paper also try coderanch.com, roseIndia.net, theserverside.com, java.net, java2s.com for sample coding and help from people who know java even better.


5. Where Can I take this test from? Is it possible to take it from home?
A: It is not possible to take test from home. Only approved Prometric centres / Person VUE centres can conduct this exam.


6. How much the voucher cost? Where can I buy it? What are the modes of payments available?
A: Right now it cost Rs.8014 but with tax, it will be high as Rs.9005. You can even buy it online but it is advised that you go to the centre you are planning to take an exam to better have an idea about the exam. You can make payment with almost all payment mode Cash/ Debit card/ Credit card. I bought the voucher and took the exam on the same day, same centre – NIIT(Above KVB bank), Adyar, Chennai.


7. How many days before the exam I have to schedule for it?
A: Voucher is valid for 239 days. You can schedule then and there, just step into the centre ask them to schedule and take it in 30 min.


8. Can I reschedule/cancel the exam?
Yes, you can reschedule or cancel the but One business day before the exam. But if try to do so less than 24 hours before the exam then you will lose your exam fee. You will not get the tax amount refunded even if you cancel before a business day so buy voucher only if you are sure to take an exam.


9. What are the essential proofs for the exam?
A: Have to carry 2 Id’s at least one must have your photo preferred that both have your signature. Preferred that one be our organization and other governments. But carry original, duplicates are not encouraged you’ll also be demanded photocopies of the Id proofs you are submitting.

    Thanks for all the useful info. I wanted to know if the cost is Rs 9005 if we buy voucher online from oracle directly. Bcos it is showing 8012rs online.

      Hi Sorry I didn't see your comment please check with Oracle site again what you say is without Tax add tax to it... It'll be 9005 :) #cheers

why do people sweat more in chennai???

One of the famous ornament of chennai is its summer!. Everyone here would have at least once talked about its effect and the way they affected. People comes out with sweats flowing from the body is the usual scene of chennai noon. The sweat produced is not just due to the temperature of the region. It is in fact due to the high humidity of chennai. To explain this lets see a fact, people in chennai sweats more than the people in delhi where the temperature is higher than the former. This is because of chennai's location. Perfect Farewell 2011 - New Year Welcome Bajan @ HOME FOR CHALLENGED CHILDREN

Every year from the month of November to January it is Ayyappa bajan season in my life. Usually the place where we perform Bajan would be home (residence) at times it would be temple if requested since we are not professionals neither we charge nor encourage it. Unlike ordinary Ayyappa bajan we do Samprathaya Bajan which follows a fixed format which has always received appreciation. A simple call from an acquaintance whom we met 4 years ago in train on pilgrimage to Sabarimala fixed a date for bajan in “HOME for challenged children” in Anna nagar, Chennai. Since I have just joined a job still in training period I was not allowed to take leave unless it is really an emergency. I decided not to go because I was getting tired of working hard, that week was really tough because of storm. After all that rain and storm on Friday my organization declared a holiday for us on 31 st (Saturday) also the last day of 2011. Without any further delay I decided to go there and update the same on

Volatile INDIA no more on Valiant's

Team India “a talented country as it was said” is no more the Ruler of the game called Cricket. India has crossed bars since 1983 but wasn't named as No.1 of the cricket world because the team is much attracted to Emotions, Hierarchy and Injuries than spirit of the game therefore being volatile. The guy from the football town himself got into the team through strong recommendations, but he ruled the world which gained him the nickname DADA. Not all players from that kind of background is able to withstand the pressure, there are many bad example standing tall against weak minor good examples. But after the World Cup’07 the things were changing a lot it is said that hierarchy is removed and also minor tournament will be given more importance to find distinctly talented young players. Now the situation is perplexed because of attraction towards the small tournaments; Reason is that Indians are much interested in seeing the combat between cities and states of their own country. T

Even bull shit can take you to top

Once there was a bird who was so complaining about its illness which is not letting it fly to the lowest branch of tree. The bull which was hearing this smacked some flies on its dick and started "well then have my shit you'd get better". On hearing this the bird sitting on the back of bull got shocked but hesitantly it was ready to give it a try. The day after bird overcame its thoughts and started pecking on the dunk, first day itself bird was able to fly to the lowest branch of tree. Excited the bird took more shit and the following day, its was becoming healthy and fat. Within a week it got so well that with few strokes its able to reach the top of tree.  The farmer some feet away spotted the bird, went into home came out with air gun and shoot the bird down. Moral of the story: Even bull shit can take you to top, but it won't help you to stay there This story is pretty old but always good for a smile :) heard it in a 'inner management' video of Sadh
